The 5th Yahya Prize awarded three rangers in January 2019 to acknowledge the rangers who took particular steps for conservation in Iran. Yahya Prize funded by two members of the ICS, Mojtaba Ramzi and Paridokht Moskzad, an artist couple who dedicated part of their income to acknowledge the nature guards’ difficult job, and ICS holds this prize every year. Many legal and natural persons are interested in taking part in this event by supporting the awards or event’s costs.
These rangers had chosen by the committee of the jury formed of seven environmental activists, ICS members, and a former ranger. The winners were selected based on 14 principal parameters suggested by the juries. Every ranger is welcomed to apply for this prize independently and despite his grade and experience.

Ranger Ataollah Sadeqi from Kurdistan Province (Western Iran)
Ranger Ali-Akbar Imani Berenjestanaki from Mazandaran (Northern Iran)
Ranger Hamid-Reza Azimpour from North Khorasan (Northeastern Iran)
At the beginning of the event, the families of four rangers who got killed by poachers or passed away while their duties honored.
As a Yahya Prize tradition, one of the activists who try to take and specific action for rangers honored. Bahman Izadi is one of these heroes who dedicated himself to release the imprisoned rangers who are facing unclear penalty according to army conflict with poachers and due to the complicated legal system.

ICS launches the Yahya Prize for the fifth consecutive year
Established by the Iranian Cheetah Society (ICS) in 2014 through a generous donation by an Iranian artist couple, Mojtaba Ramzi and Paridokht Moshkzad, the Yahya Prize recognizes Iranian rangers who have done outstanding efforts to protect Iran’s wildlife and natural environment. The Award committee is now busy with reviewing applications for the fifth award ceremony, which is expected to continue during the following two months. Winners of 2017 Yahya Prize Unveiled at the Award Ceremony
The 4th Yahya Prize ceremony took place at Tejarat Bank’s Ceremony Hall in Tehran, on the evening of December 14, 2017. This year the Award honored three rangers: 1) Gholamreza Mohammadzadeh from Siahmazgi Protected Area, Gilan Province; 2) Mohsen Dalir from Binalud Protected Area, Razavi Khorasan Province; and 3) Modasser Teymouri from Sadeh Protected Area, Razavi Khorasan Province. The winners received their prizes from the Award committee, which had selected the honored rangers through an intensive three-month effort. Additionally, the Award acknowledged the family of an Iranian ranger who was killed by opium smugglers in Yazd Province in November 2017.

Delegates from the Iranian Department of Environment and several Iranian NGOs and individual environmentalists and nature lovers attended the event.

The third Yahya Prize ceremony took place at Raad Charity Hall, Tehran, on the evening of December 4th 2016. Established by the Iranian Cheetah Society (ICS) in 2014 through a generous donation by an Iranian artist couple, Mojtaba Ramzi and Paridokht Moshkzad, the Yahya Prize recognises individual Iranian rangers who have done outstanding efforts to protect Iran’s wildlife and natural environment. This year the Award honoured three rangers: 1) Modaser Teymouri from Sadeh Protected Area, Razavi Khorasan Province; 2) Mousa Gholamzadeh Sarab from Dorbadam Protected Area, Razavi Khorasan Province; and 3) Ali Kalaneh from Payband National Park, Mazandaran Province. The winners received their prizes from the Award committee, which has selected the honoured rangers through an intensive five-month effort. Additionally, the Award acknowledged families of three Iranian rangers killed during the fight with poachers in 2016.

The second Yahya Prize ceremony took place at Ezzatolah Entezami’s House Museum, Tehran, on the evening of July 25. Established by ICS in 2014 through a generous donation by an Iranian artist couple, Mojtaba Ramzi and Paridokht Moshkzad, the Yahya Prize recognises individual rangers who has suffered serious injuries to protect Iran’s wildlife and natural environment. This year the Award honoured six rangers from different provinces across Iran, who has been selected by the award committee through an intensive five-month effort.
The 2015 Yahya Prize ceremony was held in collaboration with University of Environment (UOE), Iran Environment and Wildlife Watch (IEW), and Zistboom Environment News Agency, and delegates from Iran Department of the Environment, Conservation of the Asiatic Cheetah Project, Ezzatolah Entezami’s House Museum, Iran Wildlife Pictures Institute, and several Iranian NGOs and nature lovers attended the event.

The National Warden Award’s Committee Begins Collecting Nominations for the Yahya Prize
Founded in 2013 by an Iranian artist couple, Mojtaba Ramzi and Paridokht Moshkzad, the Yahya Prize rewards wardens who have risked their life to protect the Iran’s biodiversity. In collaboration with the Iranian Cheetah Society (ICS), last year the prize awarded to five wardens who have been severely injured by poachers or natural resources smugglers.
The pre-award procedure for the 2nd year of the prize has been started by a committee compromising of the founders, ICS, deputies from Iran Department of the Environment and some Iranian artists.
Increasing motivation and promoting conservation efforts of the wildlife wardens have always been a priority for the Iranian Cheetah Society. Therefore, the Warden Programme was started last year to support the Park Wardens across the country. During the first year, the following activities were initiated:
1- The Yahya award
2- The Yoozban award
3- Participatory monitoring
4- Provision of equipements
More than 50 wardens from all over the country, especially cheetah habitats were involved in the program and nearly 400,000,000 Rls was allocated for the activities during the first year.
Next year, in addition to the initiatives mentioned above, educational and skill development programs have been considered for the wardens across the country. These programs will be implemented in cooperation with the government’s Department of Environment.

Following its supportive programs toward Game guards, Iranian Cheetah Society (ICS) held the first annual Yahya Prize ceremony in Karaj’s University of Environment(UOE) this morning. This price that sponsored by Mr. Mojtaba Ramzi and his wife Mrs.Paridokht Moshkzad, sculptors and ICS members , will have special subject every year in order to honor game guards. Dr. Fazel the president of university of environment suggested that next year the prize goes to a “researcher game guard”. Morteza Eslami, the president of ICS, in his speech mentioned that in 30 years, 100 game guards were killed in the protected areas, but thankfully last year there were no loss and we are looking forward that by help of people there won’t be even an injured game guard in future.
Mr.Ramzy said that he and his wife will provide this prize by dedicating their artistic products.
At the end of the ceremony the winners received their Yahya prize and some gifts from Mr Saman Golriz and Iranian technical publications.
